IBRD Overview

The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development lends to developing countries with relatively highy per capita incomes. It is owned by over 150 member governments. Voting power is linked to capital subscriptions, which in turn are based on each country's relative economic strength. The IBRD obtains most of its funds through the sale of AAA rated bonds in international capital markets. The organizational structure of the IBRD reflects both function and global mission.
